I love a theme, y'all know that. We can't take a look at the return of dance music legends this year without mentioning house/electroclash star Felix Da Housecat, who dropped a new album, Virgo Blaktro & The Movie Disco this month. In spite of the title, it's a good one, nice to see someone take a few years off and come back with a vengeance.

The first single, "Like Something 4 Porno," immediately evened out the lame album title. Interestingly, for such a song with this title, it's a surprisingly un-dirty, un-filthy song. In fact, it's downright sweet compared to the jackin' house that Felix's hometown of Chicago specializes in. It's just a nice, catchy dance tune with female vocals. Leave it to Armand Van Helden to bring a little nastiness to the mix, with a pounding beat, chopped up female "uh" vocals and a ridiculously sick bassline. He even throws in some drilling drums every so often, this one's relentless, balls-to-the-wall shit, highly recommended. The Teenage Bad Girl remix is excellent too, something for the Ed Banger-style electro fan in all of us. The Kris Menace remix might be my favorite, although it's a little more for home listening than club destruction. Beautiful keys/synths create an atmospheric sound that you kinda never want to end. The beats keep things moving forward, a really excellent remix from a name to keep an eye on.

Buy the new album here, we'll try to take a closer look this week. You can buy the 12" single at Turntable Lab, a must for the B-side single, "Pretty Girls Don't Dance (What Should I Do)".
