Weenhatten NYC and So Sweet Night LA

Wow, it is insanely cold tonight in New York City, the wind nearly blew me from Park Slope to Williamsburg this evening. Anyway, what better way to keep warm than by going to one of the best, longest running weeklies in the city, which features many of our favorite mostly-local DJs spinning? Oxy Cottontail brings you Weenhatten at Sway (305 Spring St. btwn Greenwich & Hudson) tonight, hosted by Madsteez, Roxy herself, Jimi (Alumni) and Quan Love. You get DJ sets by Nick Catchdubs from the Fool's Gold label, Cosmo Baker from The Rub, Morse Code from San Fran and Dimitry!!! from High Voltage. Really psyched to see Dimitry in this line-up, one of my favorite DJs in the city, great to see him getting to spin at some new parties. This should be a great night with all sorts of music coming at you, great crowd, perfect start to the week/escape from the cold, 10pm-4am, 21, free.

-There's also the Blogger's Delight party in Tribeca at the Knitting Factory (74 Leonard St), where Jinners celebrates its 5th Anniversary with bands Cheeseburger, Neckbeard Telecaster, The Big Sleep and Coin Under Tongue, plus DJ Dug from Dirty On Purpose. Let the rock music and guitar chords warm that cold body of yours. Free, down in the Tap Bar.

-On the opposite coast, where there is no wind, tonight's a So Sweet Records night around town. One of the raddest new labels, home to people like Moving Units, Le Castle Vania, Dreamburger and more, some of their DJs are featured at the city's best parties. First, So Sweet's Classixx, recently know as Young Americans, and Man Like Me are spinning at the Still Fucking Awesome party at Beauty Bar (1638 N. Cahuenga Blvd), along with Skeet Skeet and residents Franki Chan and Har Mar Superstar. No cover, free Sparks from 9-10, 21+, photos by Red Slurpee. LATE UPDATE: Whoa, Surkin is a late addition to the party tonight, Institubes' boy wonder is in the house and will be on this blog shortly too.

-You're also gonna wanna check out the Club Genre party at Cinespace (6356 Hollywood Blvd), where So Sweet's Tronik Youth are headlining the Monday night weekly. These guys are gonna bring some of that London nu-rave vibe to LA, do not miss out. They join up with residents DJ S!n, Luv Tek, Joaquin and Zendo. Oh, and you, if you make it out. Doors open at 10pm, free until 10:30, women are $5 all night, guys are $5 until 11. I recommend adding their myspace page as a friend, as you can message them every week and claim one of the limited number of guest list passes there.
