Okay, normally we don't do Sunday night posts, but I figured that I would make an exception since we're on a bit of a roll right now and there's some rad things going on. I'm breaking a few rules tonight, first off by leading off with a party that doesn't have a flier. But, when it come to the Socket party in Philadelphia, rules were meant to be broken. When the legendary Sunday night weekly came to an end back at Silk City a few years, it was as if the drunk, debauched heart of Philly was rip out. Well, I'm happy to say that the opening of The Barbary (951 Frankford Ave) means the return of John Redden and Danielle Redden's party, back where it belongs in its Sunday night slot. To make things even radder, they've invited Brooklyn's Finger On The Pulse DJs to take it to the next level. Indie, electro, rock, same as it ever was. No cover, doors at 10pm, 21+. Yeah yeah yeah!
-I'm also gonna break my no parties at The Delancey (168 Delancey St) rule this one time, as the references to synthpop, electro, electroclash, industrial, EBM and darkwave overwhelmed my natural loathing of the place. Actually, it's much more that that horrible time of my life is behind me forever, don't look back. This is the BYTE party and its Synthetic Sexy XXXMas 4.0, think of it as robot's version of a holiday party. The other thing that won me over was guest DJ Tiny Pants of Hi Tops and Hearts party, always good to hear him out spinning. Resident DJs Ash and Lucien, along with the other guest DJ Jet of Vampire Freaks, will spin the darkest, scariest shit you've heard, there will be tons of giveaways and a lot of S&M from what I can tell. Cost varies from $5-15 according to the degree you are willing to let your inhibitions go, which means that I would pay $15, 21+, lots of drink specials.
-For those for looking to start the week off big or keep the weekend going on more night, LA's Plus+ Sunday party at Club PLAY (6423 Yucca) should be just the ticket. Huge line-up with Aaron Lacrate, Acid Girls, Mr. White, Dan Oh, CMO & DJ Legit, Shadowscene will be in the house taking pictures, hosted by Chris White, Ryan Jaso, Cotrell Brandon, Stamp'd LA, Brad Hoss, Ashleigh James and Steven, Timmy & Val of Club Ave. RSVP to plussundays@gmail.com for $7 reduced entry, $10 otherwise, 21+, doors at 9:30.
-Outside of the city in Riverside, Club ERA goes down as it does every Sunday at Club Sevilla (3252 Mission Inn) Tonight, resident DJs S!n, Luv Tek and Joaquin have Man Like Me from So Sweet Music as guest, in all the way from Londontown. I'm not sure if he's DJing or playing his dance-y hip-hop live. Either way, it should be a fun night, $5, 18+. Oh, love the slogan on the flier, it is okay to relax tonight.
