High Voltage NYC,

Okay, we're gonna get back into the party game, that NYE post wiped me out for the past week, no joke. I can't think of a better party to start with than High Voltage here in NYC, one of, if the, first parties we ever mentioned at this humble site. Dimitry really made this something special in its first year, moving to bigger and better venues every few months, settling in now at The Annex (152 Orchard St). Things are starting right where they left off this year, as Alexander Technique of DJs Are Not Rockstars is the special guest tonight, joining residents Dimitry!!! and Prince Terrence for a night of wall-to-wall people and danceable music. Hosted by Jason Hates You, the Zygo vodka open bar still starts at 11, ends when its gone and destroys your ability to make wise decisions. 2008, I expect even bigger things from High Voltage, get on board now. Yeah!

-The other essential Wednesday night stop is the Taste Crew's Wednesday party at 205 Club (205 Chrystie). Tonight, the upstairs hosts Free The Robots, as Roam and Urth play a live set for everyone. Their music has all sorts of elements, from psychedelia to breakbeats, well worth a listen. Resident DJ Equal will be on hand to spin all night. Downstairs, the Brooklyn Bounce party makes its way into the city, DJs Dhundee and Stimulus will bring a similar sound of broken beat, downtempo and hip-hop to the lower level. RSVP to 205@thetastecrew.com to get on the list for the night.

-Down in Philly, the Turbostation crew is getting revved up for their big party at the Troc next week with the Kiss 'n' Fly party tonight at The Barbary (951 Frankford Ave) Oh! Murder Inc, Strawberry Mansion and DARKLORD will spin from every genre of music alive, from the unremembered 80s to the newest remixes. This will be a dance party, so bring your A game. No cover, 21+, 10pm to 2am. Now, if they would just return my g-ddamn emails...

-Ahhh, it's Robotic Wednesday! A late addition, this party in Oklahoma City at the Electro Lounge (5929 N. May Ave) quickly became a favorite, always love any laid-back weekly night where good DJs and friends and fans can come and hang out and dance and have a guaranteed fun time once a week. Tonight is Caroline's Birthday; Pound for Pound does not know Caroline, but any friend of DRD is a friend of P4P and more importantly she is pictured with a cat in the flier and any friend of cats is a friend of P4P.

-Finally, out in LA, Anne Lee and Shadowscene take you to Awesometown, where you can celebrate Dirty Dave's birthday. Dave will be spinning tonight, good to see his name, haven't seen it in a minute; Cosmic Kids and Action Jackson will also be on the decks for what should be a wild and crazy time at The Short Stop (1455 W. Sunset Blvd) $3 Dewars all night could spell trouble, photos by Shadowscene will document said trouble. No cover, 21+, doors at 10pm.

-Finally, super excited by this week's Busy Work at Detroit Bar (843 W. 19th St) in Costa Mesa, as Pound for Pound favorites Sweatshop Labor invade LA for the first time. We'll do a more specific post about their trip tomorrow (I hope), but in the meantime, here's your first chance to check Johnsville and Lucas Walters out. June D is also in from NYC, joining with LA's Dan Sena, Clifford Lidell, GMO and The Living Suns. RSVP to busywork@detroitbar.com and get in free before 10, $5 after 10 pm.
