Digitalism - Terrorlight

Digitalism, "Jupiter Room (Erol Alkan's Simple Yet Effective Edit)" (YSI link) 320 for DJs

Daft Punk, "The Brainwasher (Erol Alkan's Horrorhouse dub)"
(YSI link)

It is such a beautiful day, let's start this week off big. Of course, big around these parts means Digitalism songs and Erol Alkan remixes. Bring them together and it's globothermonuclear TNT A bomb shit. Kitsune, one of the best labels in the world (the haters are starting to come out, so they need to stay on top of their game now), has just released a new 12" featuring even more remixes of the German band's best tracks, "Zdarlight" and "Jupiter Room." I'm only putting up the B side, so make sure to grab your copy of the 12" to hear the great Zdarlight remixes. Or cop any of the Kitsune Maison compilations, as they are some of my favorite shit and amazing intros to the whole indie dance world.

Erol didn't lie when he called this a simple yet effective edit. He retained much of the original's sound and vibe, extended the original by a few minutes

-For those in London still lamenting the loss of Trash, it seems like it's replacement as begun at The End (West Central St.) It's called Durr and it goes down every Monday with Rory Phillips, The Lovely Jonjo and Matt Irwin. Tonight, there's a super secret special guest that no one is naming, which leads me to believe that its gonna be a pretty fucking rad choice. To bring this post home, Mr. Alkan will be spinning a set at the May 28th edition of Durr. Yeah!

-G-d damn, LA does not sleep. The Genre are bringing the same party from last night to Hollyhood with Le Castle Vania, Audiojack, Paparazzi, Zendo, DJ S!n and Luv Tek. Put on your best pair of skinny jeans, fix up look sharp and get to Cinespace for some rave-y disco-y electro-y madness.

-I got to spend the weekend in Philly and just had to say how it is the greatest city on earth and if you are looking for a place to move there is nowhere in the world better. The Monday Night Social is the new weekly party going down at Fluid (613 S. 4th St.) and they've brought in special guest Andy Caldwell to kick things off.

-This warm weather just makes my Hall and Oates requests more necessary. Thankfully Lauren Flax and Sam Brown from The Whitest Kids You Know are doing a yacht rock night at Piano's from 6-12 tonight. It's spring, it's the perfect time for weekday drinking, the douchebags won't out in the LES tonight, do this. Two words - Kenny Loggins.

DJ Paul V. - All-Coachella Smash Mix

DJ Paul V., All-Coachella Smash mix

The weekend has ended, which means that the massive Coachella festival has too. For those of us who weren't lucky enough to be there (or those who were and just wanna have a nice souvenir sitting on your iPod), here's my bol DJ Paul V.'s latest mix, All-Coachella Smash mix. It's 19 tracks at 17 minutes, featuring some of the artists from the night. It's another great mix by Paul and should remind everyone at just how much amazing talent was at the festival. I mean look at the names here - Bjork, LCD Soundsystem, Peter Bjorn and John, Junior Boys, etc. Damn look at the Saturday line-up alone (Justice, !!!, LCD, The Rapture, MSTRKRFT, my girl Regina Spektor, Busy P, DJ Mehdi, Arcade Fire...)

Let me also take this chance to remind everyone to tune into DJ Paul V's weekly radio show, Neon Noise on 103.1. It's a chance to hear this type of mix writ large, as Paul has three hours to drop the best dance tracks, remixes, classics, mash-ups that don't suck, that good stuff. Tune in 12-3 PST, let's hope that we can figure a way to get some of the shows posted here. Also, make sure to check out Paul's podcast blog, The Smash Mix!, where he throws up a new mini-mix every week.

-For those who aren't ready to let the Coachella weekend to die, head to one of the best weekly parties anywhere, LA's Le Disko. This is a special edition as the Le Disko bols take on the DJs from Club Moscow. Daniel, Paparazzi and Keith 2.0 host Raulie a.k.a. Mr. Sleep and Paul from the Wednesday weekly, this is gonna be a battle for the indie ages. Get to the Spider Club (1735 Vine St.) in Hollywood. FYI, more boxing related fliers, people. It's such a good look.

-There's more post Coachella madness in Riverside, as the weekly Era party really goes off this week. It's the ATL's Le Castle Vania's birthday party and he'll be dropping a nasty set of disco and electro to honor his born day. You also get a set from the UK's Audiojack, his first US appearance. Of course, resident dudes DJ S!n and Luv Tek are there, holding down Sevila Nightclub all night. It's a discopunk rave, Dave!

Hashim - Al Naafiysh (The Soul)

http://www.musikmarkt-wiesbaden.de/images/HASHIM%20al-Naafiysh%2012.JPG

Hashim, "Al Naafiysh (The Soul)" (YSI link) 320 for DJs

Electro 101 later. I'm off to a wedding, will put up the tunes and verbiage then. In the meantime, go out and have fun tonight!

-Tonight's all about Philly, as I'm back in town and I have decided that all of the great parties are in my honor. Caesar returning or something. Co-events of the night, one sees Philly conquering its lamer neighbor to the north, the other sees Philly welcome its neighbors from the south. White Ts and White Belts is finna take over NYC. Philly's best party is doing its thing at a warehouse tonight, a $15 all you can drink deal, Nick Catchdubs and Rezound and Workweek will spin with Emil and Bo Bliz. For real, this is going to be an amazing night, that's really all that can be said.

-Back in the 6th Borough (if you call it that, you'll get beat down), it's gonna be a fucking rager. Mad Decent vs. Unruly. Baile vs. Bmore club. Diplo vs. Scottie B. Lordy lord, this is as good as it gets

-The Philadelphyinz are doing their Khyber jawn tonight, although this one's . It's dedicated to Boris Yeltsin, so I expect lots of vodka and failed democratic reforms. Apt One and Skinny Friedman will prove that someone still loves Boris with a mix of club bangers, disco explosions and booty percolators.

-There's nothing I love more than fliers with drugs on them. My Kansas bols have done it big for their Get Rave! party at The Jackpot (943 Mass St.) in Lawrence. Thunderous Olympian, Iggy and Konsept will make the E talk for all you Midwestern kids.

-Finally, West Coast people, feel free to leave your info and fliers in the comments, as I didn't see anything in my research, but, it turns out that you guys are three behind us time-wise. One must-attend happens at Mezzanine (444 Jessie St.) again, a club that seriously trying to earn best club of the year honors. After the Soulwax jawn last ight, tonight Digitalism and Joakim show up for live sets. Kelly B, Shaun Slaughter and TK Disco handle the DJing, not much more one could ask for.

Mr. Andersonic

Mr. Andersonic, "What" (YSI link)

Mr. Andersonic, "Backdoor Breakthru"
(YSI link)

This is the 800th post at Pound for Pound, a kind of staggering number when I think about it. Over that time, I've been able to meet and hear a lot of great new talent and in the coming weeks and year, I really want to do a better job of shining the light on them and help get the word out. I'm talking about the people who don't hire PR firms to get buzz, you can go to the other blogs for that sort of payola. I'm talking about the grinders, getting their name out through hard work and talent.

Mr. Andersonic is the perfect artist to start with and celebrate, a dude who's been doing his thing for a decade. The time seems right for this dude to be your dude now too, it's time for all you fucking hype beasts to start hyping him. I was fortunate to have my bol Project Matt put me up on him a while back, allowing me to catch him spinning at the basement of Lit and hear these tracks above. Honestly, I assume that we were seperated at birth in some sort of Miami hospital, spending our first few days in a sound chamber that pumped in only 808 basslines.

His influences are immediately clear on the above songs - ghettotech, Miami bass, ghetto house, Baltimore club, i.e. the good stuff. These are all original productions, a sort of lo-fi booty music almost. "What" takes the familiar Lil Jon refrain, but adds in a monotone rap from MC White Ice that really works. It's over a nice Bmore club beat with effects, a little less than three minutes of destruction. My favorite, though, is "Backdoor Breakthru," which strays away from the influences more. It still has the drum machine sound, the electro bass and the obsession with backdoors. But, at over 6 minutes, it has room to breathe. Unlike most booty tracks, which are unrelenting, this one kinda of stretches out and plays with the sounds; there's an almost synth/keyboard solo in the middle like a prog band. Overall, it's got more of that early electro/proto rap sound, where being laid back didn't mean you couldn't keep people shaking their asses.

Andersonic has made his biggest impression in the club, doing his live sampler and syntheizer sets at some of the city's best parties - Cut, White Ligthtning!, Pay To Cum and many others. For those in New York City, I cannot recommend more highly that you get yourself to Home Sweet Home (131 Chrystie St.) tonight for Saturdazed. While Project Matt is trying to survive the hardships of Coachella - pool parties, daytime drinking and sun - Andersonic and Reverend McFly hold it down in the LES for real. You know i consider this to be one of the best weekly parties in NYC and there will be no let-up tonight.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Yeah! This should be a definite stop for all of the downtown kids, a chance to hear this blog come to life. More importantly, for all of the party people out there, get at Mr. Andersonic and book this dude so that I can hype your party and hear booty tunes when I'm out and your party can be amazing and you can get hot girls to dance dirty and the world will be at peace. I expect huge things down the road for bol, so get on board now as we're not waiting anymore.

Hot Chip Remixes

Portrait by Bevis Martin

Amy Winehouse, "Rehab (Hot Chip remix)" (YSI link) 320 for DJs!

Ladytron, "Destroy Everything You Touch (Hot Chip remix)" (YSI link)

Le Tigre, "TKO (Hot Chip TK Max mix)" (YSI link)

It's Friday, it's a massive weekend for parties, no work or school, it's time to be happy and celebrate. I can't think of a band that puts me in a better mood than Hot Chip. For real, they are the band that I play for everyone when I want them to hear great music, like there's no way no one couldn't love them. It's such perfect music, it just makes me wanna sit in a park and hold hands with my girl and think about how bright my future is. Since I'm going to die alone and poor, you know that this is some seriously good shit.

The main draw above is the newish remix of the star of the moment, Amy Winehouse.

-The event of the night is a battle for the future of California, as the best LA and SF DJs fight it out for supremacy. All of Pound for Pound's West Coast favorites are in the house, Sleazemore and Audrock for the Yay Area and Daniel Le Disko and Paparazzi from the City of Angels. This should really be an amazing night at the 222 Club (222 Hyde@Turk) and further proof that there's no East Coast bias on this blog.

-Damn, big night in San Fran, as the new Modular monthly gets started at Mezzanine (444 Jessie St.) with a bang, as the Radio Soulwax rolls through town. I've been hyping this tour since it's start, so you know the deal. Soulwax Nite Versions live, 2 Many DJs set, Dave P and JDH, Modular DJs, Muscles live, Jefrodisiac and Richie Panic, fun, dancing, the time of your life, happiness.

http://66.111.100.251/uploads/EvFlyer_351.jpg

P.S. It's a huge weekend San Francisco. Prepare yourself.

-I wasn't even going to mention Coachella out of pure jealousy, but I can't be a hater. Everyone should make sure to check out this cool afterparty tonight at the Best Western Date Tree Hotel. The birthday bol Le Castle Vania, LA's Them Jeans and Justin Jay provide the beats, Sarah Morrison hosts and it's at a fucking pool. What more could you need?

-Some dope parties going down in NYC, with the choicest one tonight's FUN at Studio B. French produce Joakim is going to be playing tonight with The Ectoplasmics, making this an essential stop in your night no matter what. Tim Sweeney is the guest DJ, spinning with residents Eamon Harkin and The Bangers.

-Always great to see new parties start up, especially when it involves so many of my favorite DJs in NYC. The Musicbox and Paper TV are starting a monthly party at The Orchard Bar (200 Orchard St.) in the LES. Bands The Beasts of Eden and Locksley play early, but the real fun starts when the dance party starts after. Mr. Stretch Armstrong, Jacques Reneault, Bardl from Bang Gang (!) and the lovely White Dove ladies, Shelly and June D. Hosted by Genevalentine, free booze and giveaways, I think we've got something here.

MUSEBOX PARTY ORCHARD BAR 4/27

-You know what, you could just make it a Lauren Flax. It's Friday, so it's White Lightning! time at Home Sweet Home, this time with The Heartthrob Boys - Red Foxx, Morgan Louis, Sensitive Hand and Baltimoroder. After that, head to School (105 W. 27th St.) for afterhours madness until 7 AM. No clue what the deal is with that afterhours jawn, but it's not like anything bad ever happens when you extend the night very late. Right?

-The Pound for Pound map continues to expand, as we're setting up an outpost in Minneapolis now. Ian Hixxx comes in from Chicago to join with Sovietpanda, naughty wood and Jonathan Ackerman for a night of dance music at Foundation (10 S. 5th St.). We'll have a lot more from the Great North coming up, count on it.

-Finally, I just have to mention the utter world domination that Modular is putting in action tonight. They've got their London weekly at the Ditch Bar (145 Shoreditch High St.) jumping off with Sinden on the decks. Nightmoves, Tramp!, Fact DJs, Baseball Furies and the Modular DJs are also there to make this a fucking rager.

And in my future home, Paris, the label starts up a new monthly and check the line-up. Like whoa! Herve! Fred Falke! New Young Pony Club! Late of the Pier! Good Shoes! Zut alors! Get to Le Showcase (under the Pont Alexandre III, 8th, Right Bank). Paris, do this, then get me a job and place to live and let's make it happen.

Count of Monte Cristal - Ghetto Bitches EP

http://www.classicscentral.com/new/gpc-412.jpg

Count of Monte Cristal, "Pussy Suck" (YSI link)

Count of Monte Cristal, "Ghetto Bitches (Sinden remix)"
(YSI link)

Oh boy, this one's like a Pound for Pound dream. One of the dopest producers in the game, Herve, becomes the Count of Monte Cristal and puts out an EP of ghetto house music. This is why we live people, this is why we get up every day and deal with this crappy world. So that we can hear filthy beats and sex obsessed lyrics and bass bass bass. What's really exciting about these tracks is the fact that they're much more house-y and upbeat, as opposed to ghettotech's more minimalist and brutal beats. I feel like this stuff will keep the dancefloor going and will hopefully give DJs a desire to give more of the ghetto house stuff a second look. The best of the bunch is the Sinden remix of "Ghetto Bitches," which wouldn't have sounded out of place in a DJ Funk set. Just a disgusting bass, although it's those clapping drums that make this track really go. The original is very good too, a few extra minutes and a more percussive sound. "Pussy Suck" is dope too, a nice track for the ladies, a nice balance to "the dick in your eye" sentiments.

Stop what you're doing right now and cop the vinyl for this immediately. We'll be keeping an eye on Counterfeet, really looking forward to see what sort of paths they take. Here's hoping they keep exploring this one.

-Another new edition to the party line-up, Even Further is another amazing downtown NYC party doing its best to make this city a little less lame. Carmine P. Filthy and Rudy Mungi are there every Thursday at Happy Ending (302 Broome St.), holding it down. Tonight they're joined by guest DJ Melanie Anne, expect dance bangers, house music, re-edits, funness. Happy birthday to Darya, who is a super nice person who tried to help me find a place in NYC. This is a necessary Thursday night stop, New York.

-Of course, Cheeky Bastard has a lock on this night with their weekly Hiro Ballroom (371 W. 16th St.) jawn. They've been bringing in the best bands and DJs to Manhattan over the past few months, no different tonight. It's The Broadcast Reunion with Michael T, DJ Jess, Alex Malfunction and Alex English, along with a set by Ultragrrl, the amazing DJ Krames of Cobra Kai and Peter Makebish.

-Speaking of new parties, Club Pop happens tonight in a city I've never mentioned before, Seattle. Resident DJs Colby and Paco bring you the only 18+ dance party in the land of grunge, they're joined by guest DJ Marty Mar and band Poor People. I love this flier, although sadly BAPE will soon steal this design and make it into a allover print hoodie and I'll have to look at douchebag after douchebag on the L wearing it and I'll end up hating the design. Oh well.

h

-Now, if BAPE made this flier into a hoodie, I'd show some love. Broadzilla motherfuckers! Upstairs at Sals! Free! $1 PBRs till 11! Lots of dancefloor dancing! Philly! Hugs and kisses!

Feist Remixes

Feist, "My Moon, My Man (Boys Noize remix)" (YSI link)

Feist, "Sea Lion (Chromeo remix)" (YSI link)

It's been a crappy, rainy day here in NYC. What makes Pound for Pound happy more than anything? Beautiful brunettes. Since this is a mp3 blog and not jdate, I figured that I'd discuss the new remixes dropping of the new Feist singles. Leslie Feist is known by everyone I'm sure, both from her solo work and stuff with the Broken Social Scene. It's a sign of how many talented female artists there are right now that Feist hasn't gotten more attention here.

Here's two new remixes of her songs, in anticipation of her new LP. These names should be familiar to anyone who reads this blog or cares about good music. Boys Noize is one of the most talented people working in music today, seeing his name on a slab of vinyl is like the Good Housekeeping seal. This is an interesting one, as it eschews his normal raging, acid-y house sound for a much more relaxed, subdued track. He really lets Feist shine and shine she does. When she starts singing the lyrics (about 1:40 in), her voice sounds so beautiful and clean it's overwhelming. This is not going to be dancefloor banger, but it still works. I love the more relaxed pace, the beautiful synth washes and the vocodored voice speaking the title. The Chromeo remix sounds exactly what you expect a Chromeo remix to sound like. They've given Feist a disco funky remake, turning our Canadian woman into a diva. What strikes me most after hearing these two tracks is how flexible Feist is, how easily her voice and songs can be translated to the dancefloor and different genres.

-There's nothing I like more than way some of my favorite people come together to create the ultimate party, Voltron-style. High Voltage tonight is a great example, as Dimitry and Jason have brought in DJ Never Forget from Finger On The Pulse to guest DJ at one of my favorite NYC parties. Yeah! Beyond that, there's a special performace by Spankrock DJ XXXchange,

-Here's a new party for me - Wasteland at Fat Baby's (112 Rivington). It's brought to you by Thunderkunt! and is jampacked with good DJs. I mean, peep the flier - Pound for Pound all-time fave Lauren Flax, Sean Pierce from Theo & the Skyscrapers, Dances With White Girls, Lauren Chillhard from Dreamburger, Alex Malfunction and Twig the Wonderkid from Trash! and a ton more people. How often are you really going to be able to go to Fat Baby's again without being with crushed by B+Ters? For chrissakes, they advertise the fact that they play industrial music. Support that.

-Be awesome tonight, as Awesometown is upon us. Anne Lee and Dirty Dave have put together a real nice one tonight with guest spots from Alex Ebert from Imarobot, Paparazzi, Jesse Frankel and Dirty Dave himself. Get to The Short Stop (1455 W. Sunset Blvd) in Echo Park, every second and fourth Wednesday. Awesome!

AwsmeTownApril25

-LA, also make sure to hit up Club Moscow tonight, as this is a must every week. Raulie, Keith 2.0 and Paul are joined by DJ Nobody tonight and a plethora of bands - Shapes of Racecars, Audrye Sessions and The Muhollands. It's at Boardners (1652 N. Cherokee), it's free til 10:30, so maybe hit this one first then head over to Awesometown. But, you do you, don't let me tell you how to make this a night.

DJ Assault - Hoes Get Naked

DJ Godfather, "Sweet Potato Pie" (YSI link)

DJ Godfather, "Let Me C U Pop" (YSI link)

DJ Godfather, "Hoes Get Naked"
(YSI link)

It's been a minute since I threw up any booty music and for that I sincerely apologize. No real excuse, just haven't been playing a lot of it and didn't want to force a post. Fortunately for us all, I've been back in the swing of things, thanks to some old ghettotech mixes that are on the iPod.

No better place to jump back in then with DJ Assault's output at the start of the millenium, 2001. That was the year that ghettotech enjoyed its moment in the sun, follwing in the wake of the Mo Wax album, Belle Isle Tech. Assault re-released "Ass and Titties", got love from other labels and got some magazine cover action. The Hoes Get Naked EP dropped on Databass, the legendary bass label. It's a solid one, especially love the title track, which is slightly more minimal sounding and less brutal than normal, with this sick warbly bass sound that makes me mosh or something.

I want to dedicate this post to my favorite Michiganer, JH-B. Hyphens are the new black, fyi. The funniest part of the dedication is that she will probably punch me in the face at putting up these songs, but hopefully seeing her name in the Pound for Pound lights will overwhelm her feminist sensibility. Ann Arbor stand the fuck up! Rotary clubbers stand up!

-It's a big night in NYC and we're gonna start off with my new favorite party. Lewd is that weekly jumpoff at The Annex, where resident DJs rekLES and seanmuthafukkinroberts bring you all of that good indie dance heat rock that makes life worth living. Tonight's also the afterparty for Robbers On High Street, as the band will be spinning after their show. For real, this is one of those guaranteed good times and a reminder of what the Lower East Side can still be.

-Then, take the short walk over to Happy Ending (302 Broome St.) for Six Six Sick, Micprobes and Japanster's party. One of the world's best DJs, Lauren Flax, is a special guest, so here's the perfect time to get up on this one. Dances With White Girls is also spinning, not much more needs to be said.

-Before you get back on the L, head to Lotus (409 W. 14th St.) for another Project Matt jawn, "Don't Sweat The Technique." King Solomon and DJ Soul are on the wheels of steel, lots of reggae and rap bangers from the golden early 90s era. Happy birthday to Vashtie, who I don't know, but look at her kiddie pic on the flier and tell me that adorableness doesn't deserve a birthday greeting.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

-Chicago, peep this flier and you'll know that there is no other place you can be tonight. Outdanced does its thing at the Funky Buddha (728 W. Grand) tonight, as Mother Hubbard and Bald Eagle will spin music so good Robert Smith would be grindin' on the dancefloor. Life During Outtime are also there, hopefully somebody will play "Fire In Cairo."

-See You Next Tuesday celebrates its 1 year anniversary tonight in Washington D.C. at the Wonderland Ballroom (11th and Kenton NW). DJs People's Champion, Promnight and Ikon don't just have some of the best DJ names, they also play great music and make you dance and happy. As an aside, the fact that I didn't post about their Pesach party is one of the three greatest regrets of my life. Message me for the other two. Sorry boys, I'm all over the High Holidays rave, promise!

-Finally, it's Tuesday, therefore it's Check Yo Ponytail night. This one is a super good one in my eyes, as there's a performance by one of my favorite bands, Erase Errata! But, no Mr. Franki Chan isn't satisfied with just that radness. He's also brought in the amazing Adult and Brooklyn's Parts & Labour to play live. That's along with the regular DJ sets by Franki and Paparazzi and photos by Shadowscene. It's at Safari Sam's (5214 Sunset Blvd), you know what to do.

Theo Parrish - Ugly Edits 9

The image “http://www.ubiquityrecords.com/photos/theo_parris.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

Etta James, "In The Basement (Theo Parrish re-edit)"
(YSI link)

Mandrill, "Feeling Good (Theo Parrish re-edit)" (YSI link)

I know that everyone on the East Coast is still a little bit hesitant to revel in the weather, as our cynical asses are waiting for the next rainstorm or cold day to come through. But, it's absolutely beautiful out today, the birds are singing near my window, the Phillies have actually won more than one game in a row. Things are beautiful.

Since they are, let's put up some beautiful, soulful music, the kind of stuff that you need to play for your loved one while you lay in bed on a sunny May morning or rock on your iPod while you walk around your city (suburbanites, no good music for you, sorry!) and feel the city coming alive again. While I've been listening to a ton of disco lately, I wanted to put up something more recent that has the disco spirit. Is there any more perfect choice than the Ugly Edits series by the one and only Theo Parrish? The answer is no, as I'm positive you'll agree with me after one listen. For those that don't know, Parrish put out a 10 volume, vinyl only re-edit series, taking classic disco, soul and funk tracks and giving them his own personal take. They were pressed in limited editions (250 per volume, I believe), white label stuff, instant classics, which have had 2 bootleg versions subsequently come out. In other words, these are rare as a good steak.

I don't even want to say too much about these tracks, other than these should make you feel better about yourself and the world. Parrish turns the Etta James track into a slow burner, which comes to an amazing peak with James singing about it going down in the basement. If it doesn't give you chills, you just might be dead.

-Go out tonight and enjoy the love vibe. Genre goes down at Cinespace as usual, but this one's an extra special version. Pound for Pound favorites Guns 'n' Bombs and Richie Panic (foreshadowing) are guests tonight, joining residents Luv Tek and S!n for a night of electro, indie dance, booty and re-edits galore. So necessary.

-Get Famous LA! No seriously, go to Get Famous, the weekly jawn at Boa Lounge (8462 W. Sunset Blvd) that covers all the good music you find here. Tonight, resident DJ High Speed Dub brings in more LA Pound for Pound favorites, Keith 2.0 and Dirty Dave. Photos by Shadowscene, hosted by Tara Laura, it's a party.

-It doesn't seem like there's much going on elsewhere, so take the night to walk around or hang out with friends and family and sit out on your stoop.

Help Out Some Pound for Pound Favorites

As I work on the next magical post, I wanted to take a moment to let you know a way for you to help out some of Pound for Pound's favorite people. First, head over to Urb's website and vote for Le Castle Vania in the Next 1000 poll. I've posted a few of LCV's tracks and remixes and consider him to be one of the most legit, exciting people working in dance music right now. Every vote counts and I know that y'all have the time to click over and show some support. Click on the fifth star under his name and show some love. Disco is the new disco!

Also, holler at my bol DJ Never Forget, who's got a new gig with Vice magazine and is looking for your best drinking stories for a future feature. Email tales@viceland.com and drop your favorite or most pathetic or grossest story that happened as a result of imbibing. Here's some suggestions from the Finger On The Pulse DJ himself: " The time you got drunk and ended up naked? Need it here. Did one to many tequila shots and could not find your apartment 4 blocks away? Please, tell me. Punched your mom and then cried about it? All ears. Broke your glasses, leg, heart, ect but did not find out till the next morning? Let me have it." Don't be shy or ashamed, as we've all done things we don't want to tell anyone, except a Vice mag writer. I am not sure they're ready for mine, hell I'm not ready for mine, as it's taken me a long time to bury those nights. The coolest thing of all is that the winning entries will be turned into illustrations for an upcoming issue of Vice.

Let's Make Love and Listen To Death From Above

CSS, "Let's Make Love and Listen To Death From Above (Diplo remix)" (YSI link)

CSS, "Let's Make Love and Listen To Death From Above (Simian Mobile Disco remix)" (YSI link)

If the world seemed a happier place, it's because everyone on the East Coast woke up today to realize that the terrible weather has cleared and everything seems a little better. I mean, what a perfect day! These are baby-making times, hold your mami's hand times, girl watching in the park times, outdoor cafe times, i.e. happy times.

Cansei der Sexy's "Let's Make Love and Listen To Death From Above" is the perfect song for this time, greatest title evah, a beautiful laid-back, dance-y feel that is like a soundtrack for Spring. The real treat above is the Simian Mobile Disco remix, which really messes with the original. The UK boys turn this one into a bleeping, raging banger, 180 degrees difference and it works big time. Yeah! Diplo also turns in a nice one, although not sure it's dancefloor ready. It's slow and deliberate, but with a real choppy feel to it. The bass (?) almost sounds like it's been scratched by one-half of Hollertronix. Repeated listens only make me like this one more and more.

-The people of LA should be extra happy on this amazing day, as Blow Up LA is doing it rill big. Check out this DFA centric line-up - The Juan MacLean, Tim Sweeney, James Fucking Friedman, live set by Gold Chains, all the LA dudes like Daniel from Le Disko, Dirty Dave, Anne Lee, Dan Oh from Cinespace, Esca & Deekay, my dude Richie Panic from SF, so many more. It's two rooms at the Beachwood Lofts in Santa Monica (1110 Beachwood), Shadowscene's in the house, goes til 4, $8. Awesome.

BlowUpAPRILweb

-Not far behind is the co-event of the night, as Chicago gets to experience Radio Soulwax. This should be an amazing time. I got to experience pretty much this same line-up Wednesday at Studio B here in Brookyln and it was soooooo good. There's nothing quite like hearing "E Talking," all my troubles seemed so far away. Oh, Dave P and JDH killed it. I repeat, killed it. Tonight, they're joined by all my new fav DJs, Bald Eagle and Popstatic. It's at Metro (3730 N. Clark St.), 18+, go go go.

http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e295/baldeaglechicago/baldeagle_metro_4-21_small.jpg

-You know your regular Saturday night stop in New York City. Project Matt's Saturdazed at Home Sweet Home (131 Chrystie St.) goes down tonight, with a special 4.20 (+1) version with Yamez. Take back the LES!

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

-No flier, but Dimitry of High Voltage is spinning at Beauty Bar (231 E. 14th St.), another good stop tonight for the NYC crowd and you can still say you've never been past 14th street!

-Finally, always good to hear from Boston, a city that seems to fly under the radar for the most part. Tonight (and every Saturday) Hot Fucking Pink takes over Axis (13 Lansdowne St) with dirty beats and dirty thoughts. DJs Michael Savant, Justincredible and Knowlton Walsh spin, free with rsvp at michaelsavant@yahoo.com. Shout out to the FGA, you're getting her back Boston, feel lucky.

Rude Boy - Jackboots and Birds

http://stencilpunks.mattrunningnaked.com/rude_stencil.gif

Rude Boy, "Are You Down (With The Underground)" (YSI link)

Rude Boy, "Volkstanz (Make It Ruff)" (YSI link)

Rude Boy, "Revolution" (YSI link)

First, let's get this out of the way. 4/20 dank! Okay, let's continue down the darker path we've taken this week. One of my favorite producers for years now in fact is DJ Scud. He definitely fits right in with Soundmurderer, although jungle is but one influence with him. I guess the best description is that he took jungle, added a punk attitutude, introduced it to the avant garde and the darker techno sounds and made something completely unique.

The songs above were done under one of his aliases, Rude Boy, It's actually one of the earliest things he did, a Japan-only release I believe. Suffice it to say it's hard to find. I actually prefer his later work a lot more, the stuff he does under his own name and with Panacea, where he lets the jungle/dancehall-y sounds shine through more. These tracks are brutal and unrelenting, not for the faint of heart. You get lots of stabs of noise, a decidedly political edge, coming from the far left, anti-skinhead side of things, a generally hardcore feel throughout both sides of the vinyl. It's definitely not that far removed from the noise stuff that Japan does so well, although it's the breaks that make it more listenable for me. More to come on Scud.

-There is only one way to guarantee the top billing at Pound for Pound, one band or artist that can be referenced to assure you the leading role in the nightly flier calvacade. Not Ed Banger, Larry Levan, Amos Larkin, not even Mr. Robert Zimmerman. No, only a reference or connection to The Smiths or Stephen Morrissey assures you immortality here. Hands and Knees in Philly is already one of the best parties in the country. Tonight though, they take it to a whole new level with a live set by Sons and Heirs, a Smiths cover band. Be still my heart. In their attempts to assure legendary status, JHN RDN and Ian St. Laurent have also invited Pound for Pound favorites Crimp Yr Hair DJs to drop the electro-freestyle-disco madness. It's all at The M Room (Girard & Frankford) for 5 bucks. Moz is G-d.

-Have I mentioned Chicago is my new favorite city? It only took me like 5 years to get over my ex from there and I'm now of clear mind and can see how amazing the city has become and how much is going on.

-The Windy City ain't done yet, as The Kampfire Killaz join resident DJs Brock & Misa for The Beta Theta at Darkroom (2210 W. Chicago Ave.) We're going to be talking a lot more about all of these cats, as there's big things happening out there.

-My current home (for the moment) New York City gets another Modular Monthly. This one's at the Tribeca Grand. Seriously. Tim from Cut Copy is spinning, which you got to admit is pretty sweet. Apache Beat are playing live, Kasper Bjorke DJs along with the Modular crew. Most importantly, I'll be there, getting my fancy on. I may wear an ascot or tell girls I'm an investment banker.

-As I mentioned last week, things are picking up in Finger On The Pulse. Brooklyn's finest are doing the damn thing at Savalas tonight, gearing up for the big one next weekend at Studio B. Guaranteed good time, sweaty dancing, dry humping, the usual FOTP stuff.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

-Happy birthday to Roxy Cottontail, who's not surprisingly celebrating in style. she's hosting an 18+ party at Studio B with a live set by Iceland's Steed Lord and a DJ set by A-Trak. Since she's the party queen of NYC, I imagine there will be lots of surprises. Amazing flier, almost put up both of them.

-D.C. isn't just scumbag politicians and hideous young people who want to become them. It's also the home of Infamy, the monthly put on by DJ Will Eastman at the 9:30 Club (815 V St, NW). Tonight, there's a special live set by Codebreakers, a cool funky electro band from . Also, DJ People's Champion will give the people what they want - bangers.

-finally, even Pound for Pound makes mistakes. Cargo pants, most times when I try to decide if I've had too much to drink and my love life are but a few examples. Earlier this week, I hyped The Faint's guest DJ gig at club 82. Well, funny thing, that's tonight, Friday. All the same info applies, Daniel from Le Disko, Paparazzi, Keith 2.0, a rare 21+ night in LA, Club 82 Calling All DJs, Avalon Hollywood (1735 Vine St.). I picture lots of gorgeous people, amazing music, a few Cure songs during the course of the night and a great time. Here's the place to be LA, it's The Faint for g-dsakes!

Soundmurderer - Revolution EP

Soundmurderer, "Big Time (core mix)" (YSI link)

Soundmurderer, "Stick Up (quick mix)"
(YSI link)

Let's keep going with this focus on the more roughneck, sonic assault kinda shit. Basically, it's an excuse to post up some of the jungle/breakcore stuff I've been dying to post since I started this blog. It's funny considering the stuff I post up on the regular, but jungle was the first electronic music that I really got into. It's not that hard to believe when you consider its roots in dancehall and rave. Next week, I think we'll focus on some of the classics that were going down in the early 1990s.

This week, we're going to look at a few of the people still keeping the jungle spirit and sound alive. There's no one doing that better than Soundmurderer, a.k.a. Todd Osborn. Osborn ran the legendary drum'n'bass store Dubplate Pressure in Ann Arbor, Michigan. For the last 5 years or so, he's been releasing music as Soundmurderer slowly buyt surely. Most of it has been done with partner SK-1, but for this post, I've put up one of his few (is it the only one?) solo releases. It's a split EP with Enduser called Revolution. Man, this shit sounds so good. It's not dance music (at least to me), but I love this sound - the chopped-up breaks, the Scarface and dancehall samples, the brutality of it all. It reminds me a lot of the impression and feeling grime gave me when I first came to it in 2003 or whenever. There's a real dystopic element that stands in contrast to most other electronic musics. And I like that.

-So many great events tonight, presumably in reaction to my foul mood. Thanks everyone for trying to cheer me up! I'd be pretty hard pressed to not amke this the event of the night, as pretty much any Soulwax Nite Versions appearance is the place to be. They are playing tonight at Studio B in Greenpoint, in a Todd P and Fixed co-production. There's also going to be a 2 Many DJs set, along with Dave P and JDH doing their thing. I'll be in the house, being happy.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

-If you still don't know, I don't know to tell you anymore. High Voltage = one of NYC's best parties. My bol Dimitry is joined by Zachary Michael and Stephen from Kids With Snakes in the DJ booth, Zygo open bar starts at 11, just do this people.

-Not too far away is the Ratatat afterparty at Manor (73 8th Avenue), which is a pretty jampacked event with all of your favorite NYC party stars. There's The Misshapers, the Ruff kids, Sophia Lamar and others, plus lots of people who didn't get into the Misshapes party earlier.

http://static.heyletsgo.com/thumbnails/55e/xy1024_b37bc1ea448c93794440b028cf77816a.jpeg

-Another great Philly party, Hurrah, steps its game up big time with a special guest spot by DJ Adam Sparkle of Making Time fame. He'll join regulars Stereo Faith, Shawn Ryan and Chris Rogy at Upstairs at Sal's. Amazing drink deals, get there before 11 and you're guaranteed drunk for 5 bucks. That's how you do it!

-Hopping over to the Midwest, the Windy City might collapse under the weight of all the coolness and hype at Fool's Gold. DJ sets by Flosstradamus and Nick Catchdubs, live performances by Kid Sister and The Cool Kids, all for $5! It's happening at Subterranean (2011 W. North Ave.), love the flier.

-I was tempted to put this as the event of the night, but I kinda got into the east to midwest to west progression. I'm an organization nerd, what can I say? Two words for this one: The Faint! That's right, everyone's favorite band is spinning a guest set at Club Moscow tonight. It's Club 82 Calling All DJs, which means you also get your boys Paparazzi, Daniel from Le Disko, Keith 2.0, along with Black Light Odyssey, Ryan Reber, Sean Patrick and more in two rooms. This event makes me jealous.

-Finally, we head up to San Fransisco for the weekly Bounce

The Stooges - Fun House

The image “http://www.dustygroove.com/images/products/s/stooges~~~~_funhouse1_101b.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

The Stooges, "1970" (YSI link)

The Stooges, "T.V. Eye [Takes 7 & 8]" (YSI link)

The Stooges, "Fun House [Take 3]" (YSI link)

It's been a shitty day, see below for a better explanation of why. I had planned on dropping some more new remix-y goodness, but I kinda wanted to hear some loud, noisy shit all day that would make my eardrums hurt and help me get a little of that anger out. Some jagged, skinny white guys with out of tune guitars, maybe? Yes please. What's lying on the floor in my room, catching my eye as I plan this post? The Stooges' Fun House, quite possibly the most perfect fit for what I'm looking for.

I'm not a rock'n'roll fan or much of an expert. I've come to so much of the classic albums well after the fact, consider dance and rap far more important and interesting genres, loathe the rockists among us. The stuff that does catch my ear is the dirtiest, rawest stuff, the stuff that is all attitude and edge, that seems to be pushing against the rock sound. The Stooges are a great example, especially with this their greatest album, Fun House. It's hard to believe that this record dropped in 1970, years before the concept of punk was a thought in the mind of some journalist. The songs are this record don't sound like the prototype for what came later; they sound like what should have been the endpoint. It's all anarchy, destruction, sex, drugs, musical mayhem.

I went with my favorite songs from the album, the ones that really are completely sui generis. I was going to reference the Dead's most psychedelic jams, free jazz, punk, but whatever. The Stooges created something unique, taking from the various 'out' genres of the time, mixed lots of drugs and debauchery and ended up with this album. The liner notes detail the making of the record, which is a cool story in its own right. One song per day, tons of drugs (including their first taste of heroin, which would lead to the band's demise not longer after), nights at Sandy Koufax's hotel in LA. The music is raw, angry, self-loathing, almost like listening to a breakdown being recorded. It doesn't really make me feel better, but it does have a cathartic effect on the listener.

So yeah, this is essential shit. Go here and buy the remastered, 2 disc set that I've been discussing. It's an amazing document of a band on fire, a great chance to see how the music developed and how much great music was happening at that time. I'm going to put up some more angry, noisy, eardrum assaulting music this week. We'll get back to our regular dirty, filthy, fun shit next week.

-So, we learned last night that our landlord is going to try to evict us, with our last day being May 31st. I'm not going to get into the details, but if you are a lawyer, particularly one in New York City or dealing with real estate (or even better, both), please get at me. We're more than likely going to need someone to represent us, trying to come up with a recommendation or two.

-One thing the emergence of blogs has allowed the world to see is the right wing movement in all of its fake tough guy glory, waging wars from their desks and denigrating those who are "weak." Things reached their nadir yesterday in the aftermath of the Virginia Tech massacres. Check out these comments by John Derbyshire of the National Review and Nathaniel Blake at Human Events Online. They're so sad and pathetic, the rantings of little men who've never experienced real violence only the fantasy kind that fuels their ideology. What kind of human being responds to the massacre of 31 people by saying, "Something is clearly wrong with the men in our culture. Among the first rules of manliness are fighting bad guys and protecting others: in a word, courage. And not a one of the healthy young fellows in the classrooms seems to have done that. ..."? What kind of political movement creates this people?

-I wasn't going to say another word about Don Imus, as this finally seemed like a happy ending as that talentless bigot finally got his due. But, I had to point out these comments by Howard Kurtz, the Washington Post and CNN media critic. Or how about these ones, where he lets us in on the fact that journalists love Imus because he talks the way they do behind closed doors. I think that this gets at the heart of the problem, why the media has become so pathetic over the past few decades. It is a private boy's club, where disparaging blacks, gays, women and jews just doesn't seem that big of a deal. Digby has a good one on this, as does Joan Walsh and Gwen Ifill. Erik Nelson was onto Imus in 1995, sadly no one listened.

-Ugh.

John Cooper Clarke - Snap, Crackle & Bop

John Cooper Clarke, "Evidently Chickentown" (YSI link)

John Cooper Clarke, "Beasley Town" (YSI link)

It appears that I'm going to be able to delay my building of an Ark, as the rain has subsided in New York City. The only good thing about the downpour was the fact that it guaranteed being on the couch for Sunday's episodde of The Sopranos. I've always been a bit iffy on the HBO show, enjoying it at times but shocked at the level of hyperbole thrown its way by critics. For me, The Wire is far better, deserving of those accolades. But, last night's episode has continued to make me more of a believer in The Sopranos, as death seems to be a leading character. Perhaps I didn't notice this before; I'll have to go back and rewatch the seasons at some point. Now, there's just a foreboding, almost a Shakesperean feel to it all, as you just sense that all will end in death.

I don't want to pontificate too much. My main reason for mentioning this episode is to introduce the music for today. The final scene and credits were soundtracked to John Cooper Clarke's "Evidently Chickentown" and it was one of those perfect music/film synchcronization. It's one of those songs that is just so good that it makes people ask, "who the fuck is that and why isn't it on the radio every two minutes?"

Clarke isn't well-known, which isn't surprising since he's a poet and spoken word artist. He made his name in the punk and post punk UK, opening for bands like the Sex Pistols. He also put out a few albums, Snap Crackle & Bop being his most popular. What makes this album and its predecessor so interesting, to me at least, is that they were produced by Martin Hannett of Joy Division and Factory Records fame. He used a backing band called The Invisible Girls and when the music works this album is amazing. "Beasley Street" is my second favorite track, a chance to really hear Clarke's poetry. It's got a nice mixture of political and more language based stuff, although one is always aware of his working class roots. Go here to buy the album, although it doesn't get a Pound for Pound recommendation. It's a nice historical document, but the songs never really hit. You always have a feeling that this is a poet speaking over instrumentals.

-LA keeps on impressing me. Tonight, Genre goes down at Cinespace, a electro-centric evening for your enjoyment. DJ S!n, Luv Tek, Joaquin and Zendo do their regular thing. Tonight, they're joined by Pound for Pound favorite DJ Daniel from Le Disko, who's promised a electroclash set. Yeah! 2003 will never die! Love it!

-No way to make a segue here, so let me just express my condolences with those affected by the tragedy at Virginia Tech today. My thoughts and prayers are with the students, faculty and all those close to them.

Cousin Cole and Pocketknife - Tougher Than Featherz MiniMegaMix

Cousin Cole and Pocketknife, Minimegamix (mixed by Cousin Cole)
(YSI link)

I had originally planned on having this up last night, but I've been experiencing some technical difficulties. I still want to use the Sunday night slot for longer mixes, by DJs that I love and who are starting to get their name out. A perfect selection came into my inbox recently, as NYC DJ Cousin Cole sent this megamix he and Pocketknife put up in order to promote their new 12" single, the Tougher Than Featherz EP.

This megamix is soooo good. I actually first heard Cole spin with another of my favorites, the Finger On The Pulse boys. It was at Studio B and what I remember most was the fact that Cole played a bass/booty set in the middle of everything - I can't recall the exact songs, but I'm thinking some 2 Live Crew, "Tootsie Roll", some other goodies. It was so nice and refreshing and well-played, he kept the crowd dancing and right there and it was impressive. All of which is to say that this mix is rad and incorporates the same philosophy of spinning great music regardless of genre with skill and attention to the dancefloor.

This particular mix is intended to promote the newest EP from Cousin Cole and Pocketknife a.k.a. Flagrant Fowl. It's about 25 minutes long and features lots of re-edits. I'll put the tracklisting in the comments, for those who want to know exactly what they're hearing. Give it a listen once deafly, as there's lot of surprises, especially on song choices that get the dancefloor editing, including one of my all-time favorites. You also get a preview of what comes out on the EP, which gets us to the key point. Make sure to go and cop a copy of the Tougher Than Featherz EP. It's currently #4 on the Turntable Lab bestseller list, it's getting spun by Them Jeans, The Rub bols and others, so you know it's serious. Support some of young, up and coming talent. You can say you were on them when everyone's jocking them in a year. Much more to come on these guys, guaranteed.

Calling all DJs, the grinders, the bassheads, the ravers, electro fans, feel free to send along any mixes that you want the world to hear. I'm always looking to help get the word out about people doing good things, so get at me via email or myspace. Yeah!

More Klaxons Remixes

Klaxons, "Gravity's Rainbow (Soulwax remix)" (YSI link)

Klaxons, "Atlantis to Interzone (Dave P and Adam Sparkle's Festival Remix Extended Break)" (YSI link)

-This Making Time is the event of the year. I really thought about making it the only flier for the night, but then I realized that not everyone is fortunate enough to live in Philadelphia. Take a look at the details - a live set by Soulwax motherfucking Nite Versions, 2 Many DJs!, first Klaxons Philly appearance, Surkin in the basement spinning with Adam Sparkles, JDH and Julian S. Process, Bonde do Role live, Dave P in the main room, open bar from 9-11 with PBR and Sparks. Whew. Best of all, it rages til 6 AM. Philly, get to Transit (6th and Spring Garden) tonight and freak out like crazy people.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

-More Tiny Pants for you NYC kids. Our boy is back where he belongs, on the Brooklyn side of things, spinning at Royal Oak (594 Union Ave). It's Hi-Tops and Hearts Part 4, so you know need to go to see how all the cliffhangers from Part 3 turn out.

-It's Saturday night New York, you know where to be. Saturdazed at Home Sweet Home with Project Matt. Tonight, he's joined by Dirty Finger for dirty tunes and dirty thoughts. One of my favorite parties in the whole world, get behind it.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

-Lots going on on the opposite side of the country. Blow Up LA/Anne Lee and The Fold have brought the UK's Trash Fashion in for a live set. I love these guys, check them out tonight before I do a post on them. You also get a live set from 8 bit. Denny Le Nimh from Ruff Club in NYC is the guest DJ, joining residents Dirty Dave and Denver Dally at Scene Bar (806 E. Colorado) in Glendale (wait, is that a neighborhood in LA?).

-Tik Tok is holding down LA proper with a pretty massive show in its own right. Here's your chance to check out A Touch of Class, doing the Cali thing this weekend. There's also Acid Girls, Black Disco and like 10 other DJs in three rooms. It's going down at 613 Imperial St. in downtown LA, sorry don't know the venue name. It's brought to you by Stephen Hauptfuhr, Goddollars and Aaron Castle, thank them for a great night.

-There's also a cool event going down at The Echoplex (1154 Glendale Blvd.) Dragstrip 66 present Fugly Betty, a whole night devoted to the ABC show. Dress up in your fugliest shit and get your drag on. Best of all, DJ Paul V. provides the tunes all night, so expect the best music to offset your ugly clothes.

-More fashion and music in San Jose, as the Vicctim Danse Party meets the Black and Brown Fashion Show at The Blank Club (44 S. Almaden). Runway show at 11:30, music by Basura, Nate Nothing and Disaster.

-Holy shit, one of the hottest fliers ever for this month's Wall Street at The Arrow Bar (6th and Market). San Fran's finest White Girl Lust are spinning along with Audrock and Heiko. The Murder Lillies are playing live, don't know what else you need Bay Area-ers.

-Finally, Chicago continues to impress

Klanguage - All This Time/Priceless Things EP

Klanguage, "All This Time"
(YSI link)

Klanguage, "Priceless Things"
(YSI link)

Ugh, it's been a shitty week, as I just got sicker and sicker as the days went by. I figured that it would be best that i not post in such a delerium, just in case I posted up some Nickelback and lost all my hard-earned hipster cred. But, we're getting back into the swing of things and it's going to get real fun in here over the coming week. What does that mean? It means lots of new dance remixes, old electro and bass, oblique and pathetic references to my ex girlfriend, pleas to Scarlett Johansson, condescending talk about suburbanites and Republicans, party fliers galore, clothing and sneaker links and boobs. In other words, pretty much the same stuff. But extra strength!

There's nothing that makes me feel better after being sick than some French electro-pop. Klanguage fits the bill perfectly. G-d I love this band and its sound. They've just got this sexy sound, especially on the tracks above, electro-fied indie, with female vocals that I love love love. "All This Time" is my favorite, a nice uptempo song that has more of a rock feel. Strike that, it's perfectly balanced between the electronic and rock sides. Listen to that huge farting bass, yes indeed. But, it's the rock elements that take this over the top, from the rock drumming to the guitar hook that comes in with the refrain. Awesome stuff. "Priceless Things" has a little more of a punk edge to it, with kinda screaming out the refrain. Again, another great, quick hitting song, definitely this band has a bright future. Grab their only CD, which we'll take a look at down the road.

-Lordy, lordy, there is almost too much going on tonight and this weekend. I'm giving top billing to a San Fran happening, as Sleazmore celebrates his bday in style. Check out this one - DJ sets by In Flagranti, Acid Girls and A Touch of Class (that's the secret guest). It all goes at 222 Club (222 Hyde @ Turk), you can't miss this one. Happy birthday Sleazemore!

-You know what, let's go with co-headliners, as my bol David Bruno's People Don't Dance No More party, which hits Element (Houston & Essex) again tonight. This party is gaining momentum, all because of the amazing work that Bruno of Slap You In Public and Robot Blair of Music for Robots have put in. They're bringing great DJs and great dance music to an amazing venue. Tonight, it's a Berlin vs NYC contest, as DJ Kaos (Kitsune) and Escort guest DJ. $10 advance, that's nothing for this kinda of talent and the chance to avoid the horrible, horrible LES bars nearby.

-Another one of my favorites, DJ Tiny Pants, is going to be spinning at Sutra (16 1st Ave) to celebrate the 1st Anniversary of Love Brigade, everyone's favorite Brooklyn clothing people. Love! Dance Party! Yeah!

-Ahh, always nice to hype a new party with some new talent. Dirty Mouth fits the bill, as DJ Chris Hires and host Rachel Leigh have started up a new party at a new (to me) spot in the East Village called Kion Lounge (509 E. 6th St.) There will be lots of good music spun tonight. How do I know? Because I get to hear Hires spin every night as he's my roomate. I'll be there, you should too.

-Speaking of youngbloods, make sure to check out another great newish party, The Pull-Out Method. This one's for my indie kids. Live bands, rock DJs, beer. Get to Club Midway (25 Ave B @ 3rd St), show some support to more kids trying to help you have a good time.

http://img.flavorpill.net/fp/sp/nyc/pull-out_13th.jpg

-Holy shit, a White Lightning! flier! That alone had me so excited, but check out the guests joining Ms. Lauren Flax - Jacques Renault, Justin Miller from DFA and Eamon Harkin. Get yourself to Home Sweet Home (121 Chrystie St.) at some point, show respect to one of the best weeklies in this city.

-Stop over to The Anchor (310 Spring St.) where Project Matt and Jensrocker are doing their Friday night thing in Soho. It's a Funtime Friday!

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

-Finally, on the NYC front, the Orchard Bar is reopening tonight and Stretch Armstrong and the White Dove ladies are providing the soundtrack for the night. Please, oh please, let this bar not be overrun by the douchebags who are killing that neighborhood.

FRIDAYS AT ORCHARD BAR!

-Brooklyn, did you think I forgot about you? Of course not. Two great events for those who don't want to cross the river. Finger On The Pulse are back! Yeah! Check the flier below, as it's going to be a busy month for the bros. Tonight, get to Capone's in Williamsburg and

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

-Further north in Greenpoint, Fixed goes off. I mean, it goes off! Klaxons, Surkin (!!!!) and Bonde do Role live, Dave P and JDH spin. This would have been event of the night material, except that the Making Time tomorrow is even more massive and Philly always beats out NYC.

-I saved the best city for last. Oh, Philly, how I miss you. It's good to know that y'all don't miss me as the good stuff keeps on coming. Hit up Upstairs at Sal's for Open Fire, the monthly Seclusiasis jawn. This is a special one, as it's commemorating the release of dev79's new mix, Street Anthems (more to come on this). $2 rockstar and vodkas, be careful on that people.

-Finally, lots of favorites are going to be at tonight's Hands and Knees at the M Room (Frankford and Girard). Of course, you already know all about John Redden and Ian St. Laurent, the H&K dudes. They're joined by Guns 'n' Bombs from LA tonight, this should just be a massive dance party. For real Philly people, you need to be at this one tonight. Jonny

Ted Leo and the Pharmacists - Living With The Living

Ted Leo and the Pharmacists, "A Bottle of Buckie" (YSI link)

Ted Leo and the Pharmacists, "La Costa Brava" (YSI link)

Sorry for the slower posting, but I've been sick as a dog and working on a few other projects. Things'll be picking up again now, I'm going to try to emphasize some recent(ish) albums that I've been meaning to post about for weeks. Through a combination of my own forgetfulness and the sheer quantity of great music out there, I tend to fall behind on the indie scene. I can't think of a better person to start with in looking at that scene than the one and only Ted Leo.

Ted Leo & The Pharmacists have a new album out, Living With The Living, and it's another great release. It's standard Leo fare - consistent, almost no filler, pop punk with some soul and reggae influences. While listening to it last night, I came to the conclusion that I've always compared him to the wrong person. Since being introduced to his music a few years back, I've always referenced Billy Bragg. While that's not a ridiculous comparison, I think that a more apt one is Elvis Costello. Something about this album made this comparison crystal clear. Maybe it's the great backing bands, or the perfect power pop sounds, or that wonderful ability to blend the poltical with the personal. I'm sure it's a combination of those things, but I hope that it will interest even more people in Leo's music.

-Not sure if you've been following this fake controversy over Nancy Pelosi, but it's been a perfect example of how pathetic the media has become over the last decade. Media Matters has been all over this, make sure to take a look at this takedown of CNN, which has willingly gone into the same gutter as Fox. Shit's disgusting mang.

-Speaking of pieces of shit, Don Imus may finally have pushed too far. Here's a transcript of his recent racist remarks on the Rutgers women's basketball team, a.k.a. "the nappy headed hoes." Ugly stuff. He's been helped out by his buddies in the media like Howard Fineman and Thomas Oliphant, who should come under the same pressure as Imus. Digby seems to have the right take on Imus, sad that more people didn't speak up when he would make anti-Semitic comments all these years.

-Finally, take a look at the biggest shit of all, Bill O'Reilly, going crazy at Geraldo Rivera on his own show and Geraldo completely destroys him in the argument. Oliver Wills has the background on the story, just to ram home what an awful person O'Reilly is.

Chromeo - Needy Girl

Chromeo, "Needy Girl (original mix)" (YSI link)

Chromeo, "Needy Girl (Paper Faces remix)" (YSI link)

Chromeo, "Needy Girl (Bloc Party's High School Prom remix)" (YSI link)

Let me apologize, as I had written a dedication here that I thought had been deleted. I do love the lyrics, but it doesn't remind me of anyone or describe my own life and I apologize for insinuating otherwise. As payback, perhaps Lily Allen can do a song called "Needy Boy" about a pathetic lame blogger who can't get on with his life. I also put up the wrong track for one (thanks z!), so i've gone with the original mix. I probably should just abandon this post, but whatever.

Chromeo's "Needy Girl" is one of the best songs the Quebecois duo have made yet. For those that don't know, Chromeo is a duo featuring Dave 1 and P-Thugg, who've been ridiculously underrecorded. They've had one album, a mixtape, a few remixes and a handful of singles, but most of that happened a few years ago. Hopefully, they are in the workshop putting together some new stuff, as they bring a great sense of humor and 80s sounds to the dance music scene.

I won't drone on to much here, but make sure to check out the Paper Faces remix, my favorite of all. It provides the original with a firmer beat and chops up the refrain to really gives this one a livelier, more exciting sound. Imo.

-Philly takes it tonight with my favorite, Crimp Yr Hair at Upstairs at Sal's. This one should be extra amazing, as Mr. John Redden is the special guest DJ, meaning this is real serious. How serious? This flier depicts what you will see at the end of the night, guaranteed.

-The final Shake and Pop happens tonight at The Hangout and I trust the Tactic bols will have lots of special treats to close it out in style.

-Project Matt does his thing at Home Sweet Home (131 Chrystie St.) with Saturdazed. Tonight's guests are the Hot Hens, female DJ crew extraordanaire.

-On the Left Coast, White Girl Lust invades Sacramento for AFTRDRK's Indie Dance Dynamite. The boys will be joining the regular crew of Shaun Slaughter, Jon Droll and Eric Wonderful at Old Ironsides (10th and S St.)

-Boston, you should be celebrating the return of JC this weekend (no, not that one) so head to Axis (13 Lansdowne St.) tonight for lots of good dance music that will make you happy and frisky. DJs David Dancer, Trick Applebottom and Michael Savant will make it happen, promise.

-In the no flier zone, Dimitry and Alex English spin at Beauty Bar in Manhattan, while Le Castle Vania spins at MJQ in the ATL.

-Finally, the party that has me most curious is this one going down in Tijuana with Guns 'n' Bombs and Acid Girls.

DJ Magic Mike

DJ Magic Mike and the Royal Posse, "Magic Mike Cuts The Record" (YSI link)

DJ Magic Mike and the Royal Posse, "Magician Bassin It Up" (YSI link)

WTF? It's freezing cold out and it's April. What about all that in like a lamb shit or whatever? Al Gore, my man? Where's all the hotness? In order to help those on the East Coast freezing our little (and less than little) tuchises off, I wanna take everyone down to Miami circa 1988-89. We'll let DJ Magic Mike be lour guide, one of the pivotal figures in history of the Miami bass sound. Ironically, Mike made his name when he moved back to Orlando in the later part of the decade, feeling like he wasn't getting the proper respect in Miami. He signed to a unknown label, Cheetah Records, and proceeded to put out two classic albums, including the DJ Magic Mike and the Royal Posse album these songs come from.

The real treat here is one of the greatest DJ tracks of all-time, "Magic Mike Cuts The Record." I'd be the first to admit that I usually can't stand this sort of thing, especially the whole turntablist genre that rose up there for a minute. But, Mike doesn't do this to only show off his skills, he's committed to making a dope track. The scratching is crazy, he drops a little Debbie Deb even

-These Easter Weekend parties in England almost make me want to believe in Jesus. I apologize to everyone for not getting the info up about last night's party at Fabric (one of the most insane lineups ever), but there's still two more events left for the Adventures in the Beetroot Field festival. Tonight it goes down at the Leeds Student Center (Lifton Place off Clarendon Rd.) with Digitalism, Para One, Surkin, DJ Orgasmic, Kissy Sell Out, Herve, Filthy Dukes, Late of the Pier and so much more. Grab your tickets here, as this is THE place to be in the whole world. Do it for your Savior!

-On the Continent (that's what us cultured people call Europe), my girl DJ Almost Tropical spins at Eel Pie (Saarbruecker Str. 20-21) as part of a artslashmusic event called Expect Excellence. There's also the photos of Andrea Augustin from SXSW. It's the place to be Germans, for real.

-NYC, celebrate the 1st Anniversary of the Ruff Club at Annex with a fucking rager. Amazing guest DJs - Trash Fashion (foreshadowing), Daughters of Kaos and Dirty Dave of LA's Blow Up. Live performance by No Bra, lots of hosts, Cobrasnake in the house. Congrats to Spencer Product and The Hot Pink NYC, hope we get another year.

-For anyone who doesn't want to leave Brooklyn, there's another great FUN going down at Studio B. This time, Dreamburger is playing live and will become your new favorite band, Patrick Wolf plays later, DJ sets by the regular crew of Eamon Harkin and The Bangers.

-The Dreamburger afterparty, or the only party if you so choose, is at Home Sweet Home with Lauren Flax's White Lightning! She's joined by Carmine P. Filthy tonight, you know that this will be fun , even without a flier. Go to this, save downtown from the lames!

-Speaking of downtown savior's, Project Matt does his thing at The Anchor (310 Spring St.) in Soho with the beautiful, beautiful people. Party with them, as they don't feel the cold or sadness.

-My new favorite city, Chicago, has more goodness tonight, as my new favorite DJs, Bald Eagle and Mother Hubbard, spin at Darkroom (2210 West Chicago Ave.) Lots of indie good danceness, yeah Windy City! I totally forgive you for producing one of my exes.

-Philly, this itinerary has going around all day. I love it, as it saves me lots of writing. I'd choose Hands and Knees tonight, but that's just me. So much goodness, Philly I love!

-LA appears to be sleeping tonight, but the rest of Cali picks up the slack. First, Mute will rock The OC, conjuring up the ghost of Marissa Cooper. Luv Tek is the guest DJ, the party happens each and every Friday at The Proof Bar (215 N. Broadway) in Santa Ana.

-Finally, with the flier of the night (I'm a sucka for naked women, just fyi), the B-Sides party in Costa Mesa features Awaysted Youth (Esca, Dirty-Lo and Rob the Thunder Villain). They take over The Avalon (820 19th St.) and will drop all sorts of dance-y goodness for the ladies.

Cajuan, "Raven (Cajuan's Moog Rave mix)" (YSI link)

Cajuan, "Raven (Joakim's Antwerp rework)" (YSI link)

Oh boy, here's a big one. One of the best songs so far of late 2006/early 2007, Cajuan's "Raven" is a must-have track. I've put up the Moog Rave mix from the man himself, a simply beautiful tune. Cajuan uses a gorgeous melody that's got enough bass to appease the dancefloor. There's a few organ breaks that change the tempo up; this one is not a rager by any means - even when the drums and bass kick back in, it's under control. I really like it, although rave mix is probably not the best label.

Ahh, Joakim, he does little wrong in my book. This is no exception, as I really like this rework. Again, it's not a rager, it's just a nice stretched out dance track. Listen to this one on headphones to appreciate all the little subtle shifts , how the pieces come together. I hate to use the word beautiful again, but there's just something so calming and shimmering about the sounds here. It's not that filthy stuff, it's seems much more in line with a great disco tune. Highly recommended.

-Sorry US cities, but London takes it tonight with an Easter Rave at Scala (276 Pentonville Road). Take a look at that lineup, it'll give you a boner or a funny feeling in your female parts. The Presets headline, Metronomy, South Central, The Teenagers, Kissy Sell Out, so many Pound for Pound favs it's overwhelming. Advance tickets are gone, but they will have a limited number at the door. Get there early, do not miss this.

-Brooklyn, it's a Soundclash tonight! Iron Lyon Presents Soundclash tonight at Supreme Trading (213 N. 8th) in Williamsburg. He's joined by my bol Project Matt and DJ Complex for lots of dubplates and toasting. Actually, I'm not even totally sure I know what that means; all I know is that this will be a good time with great great great DJs.

-As always Thursday night at Hiro Ballroom (317 W. 16th at 9th Ave) is an essential stop in New York City. There's a special performance by Patrick Wolf, but the real treat for the real heads is a DJ set by Does It Offend You, Yeah? from the UK. Cheeky Bastard keeps on doing it, for real.

-Broadzilla follows up the Diplo/Bonde/Plastic Little madness with guest Steven Bloodbath tonight. You know the deal, Upstairs at Sal's, free, dress in your nicest jeans and sneakers, go crazy.

-The Tactic boys are doing a 4 turntable set at the Neon party at The Bottleneck (737 New Hampshire) in Lawrence, Kansas. Midwest, this is the place to be.

Happy Pesach

http://www.licketyknit.com/wp-content/post-photos/Passover.jpg

I'm a little late on this one, but it's only because I've been looking for the afikomen these past few days. Anyway, I wanted to wish everyone a Happy Pesach and hope that have had the chance to spend some time with the family and brisket and latkes and all that good stuff.

Let me take a second to also send a shout-out to Streit's Matzo, the Lower East Side matzo bakery and kosher grocery that has been making the unleavened goodness since 1916. It was one of the true joys of my life when I lived in the LES and got to see the store every day at the corner of Rivington and Suffolk, a reminder of the neighborhood's history and the people who made it go. It's my brand choice for this holiday; I'm working on getting a Pound for Pound stamp of approval on the box right next to the rabbi's.

Yeah! Down with yeast! Up with good music! Have a great Passover!

LNR - Work It To The Bone

LNR, "Work It To The Bone (Chicago clubhouse mix)"
(YSI link)

Okay, just so you don't think I'm getting all soft and listening to love songs, here's a classic Chicago house track. LNR's "Work It To The Bone" is a classic from the mid period of Chicago house, 1987. I really don't know much about LNR, other than the simple fact that they were the production duo of Larry Thompson and Rick Lenoir. They came along during that period in Chicago house when more and more artists were coming along and using the simple tunes of the trade, the drum machine and keyboards and sampler, to create jackin' tracks that specialized in a repeated vocal sample and

The original is the one you need here, as it's everything I love to hear. Vocal about working it to the bone, repeated over and over, amazing drum programming, big bass, completely relentless. Put this on repeat and you will completely forget about the rain outside, the krazee ex, the job, whatever. Start an impromptu dance party, as you deserve people! Yeah!

-It's High Voltage time! One of New York's best weeklies, open bar from 11 til the vodka's gone, Sutra (1st Ave. btwn 1st and 2nd). Tonight's special guest DJs are Jonah Matranga and Brandon Reilly, who join my boy Dimitry and Adam Adam for a night of rock, indie, dance, whatever the moment calls for.

-Some exciting news for Philly people, as a new monthly in Philly starts up tonight at Upstairs at Sal's. It's called Disconnect and it's devoted to many of Pound for Pound's favorite strains of dance music - italo, electro, acid, detroit. Definitely worth a look,

-Club Moscow does the weekly thing in LA, spreading the word about Communism and indie dance music. Resident DJs Keith 2.0, Paul and Raulie have turned this into one of the city's better parties. Best of all for you, tonight they are joined by Daniel and Paparazzi, Le Disko bols and all-around great DJs. The flier is tiny, so let me just remind you that the party happens at Boardners (1652 N. Cherokee) in the heart of the Strip.

-Finally, further north, more Wednesday night weekly goodness as the Bounce boys, Omar and Sleazemore, do their thing at RX Gallery (132 Eddy).

Smokey Robinson and the Miracles

Smokey Robinson, "Tracks of My Tears" (YSI link)

Smokey Robinson, "My Girl Has Gone" (YSI link)

What better way to start a week than with a few of the greatest songs ever done? Well, one better way would be to start a week listening to songs about love and happiness and realize how much they mirror one's own life. But, sadly, I'm not there. And let's be honest, the great shit's always about being sad or unrequited love or both. Ugh, is it so much to ask for a nice cute girl with bangs with low standards? Dear G-d, it's me Jack.

Mang, if you're going to be listening to sad songs, could you pick any better songs? I feel like everyone knows these songs by Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, but maybe not. It's funny, as all of the music I listen to is my own. In other words, I had to come to it on my own. I didn't have any older brother or sister telling me about The Birthday Party or Cybotron, putting me onto that cool shit. My parents weren't really music people. The one exception is that whole period of music tragically labelled "oldies". It was the soundtrack for all car rides and it's had a huge impact on what I love. Roy Orbinson, the Beach Boys, Motown, the girl groups, Elvis, early Beatles were daily sounds, giving me a lifelong love for the pop music of that time.

I especially love the fact that this music that sounds so beautiful (listen to Robinson's voice) can be so dark. These are sad songs, songs about broken hearts, about lost love, about a dude singing how he cries when no one's looking. That's gangster, motherfuckers. I'm gonna try to dip into this music more and more as we go along, as I think that it's such essential stuff and I'm not really sure that today's music does as good a job writing music to reflect sadness.

-You know what really makes me sad? The fact that The Hills is over. What am I supposed to do with my life? How can I wait a year to learn about how Spencer screws Heidi over? How can I wait to know how Lauren and Audrina's roomate situation blows up? And most importantly, how can I wait all that time to see my darling Whitney?

-I just wanted to mention a few lame blog-related stuff. I'm not sure if I've made this clear, but I won't be approving any anonymous comments, especially if they are critical. All I ask is that you leave your initials if you don't want to create a profile. I'm going to be erasing the blogroll shortly and rebuild over the coming months.

Bon Johnson - Slumber Party Massacre

Bon Johnson, "Slumber Party Massacre" (YSI link)

Bon Johnson, "Slumber Party Massacre (JY's Juicy Booby remix)" (YSI link)

Here's a track that really passed me by when it first came out a few years back. I'm not really one for the jokey shit, you know like the funny DJ name or joke track names. But, if you put out great house music, I guess that I'll gladly turn my back on my beliefs. Bon Johnson definitely give the finger to the whole serious, stoic dance music that we've all come to accept post-IDM. There's not a whole lot of info about the group, but it's a duo featuring Bonald Trump a.k.a. Bons and Matt Johnson a.k.a. Emjae. They're out of Boston, who are stealing back JC a.k.a. the young Joan Didion, but I can't hate them for that. They only have a few releases over the past few releases, hopefully there will be more activity in 2007.

"Slumber Party Massacre" is a great track, a house tune that has ghettotech aspirations at heart. The original version is the standout, a versatile sound that could please househeads and those who like their music filthy. It's got a bassline that will destroy the dancefloor, great synths and keys, but with a softer sound than the ghetto house one gives off. The lyrics are what make this a must-have, as a computerized voice raps about "Slumber party massacre, we like young girls tight." It's hard to believe thatthe Juicy Booby remix wouldn't be my favorite song of all-time, but perhaps I'm growing up. Or perhaps it's because this is just a song, not juicy boobies. Anyway, the JY here is Joey Youngman and he brings a more traditional house sound, 4 to the floor, more percussion, more keys. It's actually pretty good, just not something that I would probably come back to as much as the original.

-This is an LA-centric version tonight of Pound for Pound. Los Angelenos, go check out a special DJ set by the Ratatat bols tonight at Bent. It's at The Bar (5851 Sunset Blvd), which really needs to step its name game up. All of the residents DJs will be there, we'll have to keep our eye on this weekly.

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

-Genre goes down at Cinespace (6356 Hollywood Blvd) tonight with DJ S!n and Luv Tek. Free before 11, if I'm not mistaken this is the one of the best spaces in LA,

-Finally, back on the other side of the country, LA's finest Franki Chan spins at Roxy Cottontail's Monday night jawn at Sway (305 Spring St.). He'll be joined by Turntable Lab's Egg Foo Young, there's also a Bud Select open bar til 11:30. It's good to have Mr. Chan back on the East Coast,

-Hey London, Franki will be in your wonderful city from April 22-26. If you would like to book him for a gig, get in touch with him ASAP and set something up. He's one of my favorites, so you know that the man is top-notch.

The Presets - Down Down Down

The Presets, "Down Down Down (Digitalism remix)" (YSI link)

The Presets, "Down Down Down (Midnight Juggernauts remix)" (YSI link)

The Presets really should be huge. They've simply blown me away every single time I've seen them play live, including this most recent one at Hiro Ballroom Thursday night. What's amazing is that their album has been out since 2005, yet it still sounds as fresh and exciting today. I think what makes them so exceptional is the darkness to their music, there's something a little edgy and creepy about them. It's hard to do that and make club hits, but they come about as close as you can.

Here's another single off that album, "Down Down Down," which hasn't gotten as much attention as "Are You The One?" But, it's another dark-edged, indie dance banger, complete with remixes. Everyone's favorite, Digitalism, does one rework. At first listen, I really didn't like it. I'm not sure what it was, but it didn't do much for me. But over time, it's grown on me, could even see this one going over well in the club. It's turned up the rock side of the equation, bringing a loud, rawk sound that almost makes you want to headbang. Almost. Check the drums on this one, as they are huge, like a rock drummer just banging the shit out of his kit, sweat flying off, crowd going crazy. What holds it all together is the massive bass line that never lets up. I didn't know much about the Midnight Juggernauts until I came across their remix here, but we'll have more to come on them. Anyway, this one leans towards the dance end of the indie/dance divide. It's much more minimal approach compared to Digitialism, but it may work better. I love love love the shimmering keys that come in around the midway point, they are just so beautiful. I'm gonna call this one the winner, but as always, you decide what you think.

Okay, make sure to cop their album, Beams, immediately, as no self-respecting music fan should be without it. Or go here and grab a t-shirt along with the album. Catch them on tour in Europe, including a massive London party this Thursday at Scala that also features Metronomy, South Central, The Teenagers, Kissy Sell Out and others.

-LA's Le Disko moves to its new location tonight. The party is making The Spider Club (1735 Vine St.) home from now on. It's right above Avalon and it clearly has the good sense to welcome one of the best indie dance weeklies going. Special guests tonight are Royal Rumble and Steven(n), who join the regular crew of Daniel, Paparazzi, Keith 2.0 and Mr White. New spot, same good times. Do this LA, support some of your city's best.

-Also in Cali, Dance Remix Dance Electro Dance Mayhem takes the cake for best and longest name. DJ S!n and Luv Tek will be spinning at this Era Disco jawn, dropping electro and dance bangers all night (in case the name didn't let you in on that secret) at 3252 Mission Inn in Riverside.

A Thank You To My Dear Readers

I just wanted to take a minute to thank the people who made it possible for me to see both LCD Soundsystem concerts at the Bowery Ballroom Friday and Saturday for free. CW and D made my year with their kindness and generosity. I cannot thank them enough and they will always have VIP status at Pound for Pound, they just need to say the word and the. Thanks to everyone else who came through with offers of tickets, as it really was overwhelming and wonderful. I'll have a review up in the next few days, but they both exceeded my expectations.

It has only made me love all of you even more, cementing this relationship forever. Let's never ever break up. Okay? Let's meet here every day and hold hands and talk about electro music and boobs and politics and art and sneakers and parties and life and love and the future. Let's stare in each other's eyes when there's nothing left to say. Let's make love and listen to Death From Above. Let's stay together forever.

Oh and since this LCD ticket request was such a success, stay tuned for future begging that will be devoted to finding me a girlfriend, a pair of Kid Robot or Tier 0 Air Max 1s and a date with Scarlett Johansson. Just a heads up, give everyone a chance to make that happen for your bol. Yeah! Thanks again to CW and D, I'm forever in debt. I love all of you, let's talk soon.
