Zongamin remixes

The image “http://www.new-online.co.uk/XL-RECORDINGS/Zongamin.jpg” cannot be displayed, because it contains errors.

Cut Copy, "Future (Zongamin remix)"

Franz Ferdinand, "Matinee (Zongamin remix)"

Playgroup, "Make It Happen (Zongamin remix)"

What the hell? Let's go back-to-back Zongamin posts, as I got to give the man a little more shine simply for putting out "Bongo Song." Here are some of the man's remixes, dude is clearly respected in this game as these are no lightweights he's getting commissioned by. Franz Ferdinand should really just release remix albums, as they might be more interesting than the originals. This remix has Zongamin really turning out the bass, giving it a porn soundtrack feel to "Matinee", one of the best cuts from their self-titled debut. The whole thing has a very 70s feel to it, a funky, human feel that works well. Buy Franz Ferdinand here, if you don't already have it.

Cut Copy's "Future" remixed by our boy sounds like a mix between The Streets and circus music. It's a nice loping track, good pop music with a healthy dose of funk, plain and simple. Cop the 12" at Turntable Lab, grab Cut Copy's Bright Like Neon Love at Insound.

I embarrassingly don't have much knowledge on Playgroup, a.k.a. Trevor Jackson, and his work and label, so I'm really just going off of this one song. Don't know what the original sounded like, not sure how much Zongamin fucked with it. What I hear is sick, a filthy sounding track that will sound perfect on my first mix. It's glitchy, yet still grooves. Great female vocals (talking is more accurate), demanding you to "make it happen." Forced Exposure has this version on 12" and CD single.

-I get so focused on writing Pound for Pound and stay consistent with this, that I don't check in at my favorite sites for extended periods some time. Unfortunately, A Silent Flute fell into this category until recently. I'm glad to say that ASF has not fallen off at all, still one of the best, most informative, eclectic sites going. His link game is at full strength, and Nat continues to look at obscure, trippy music that is way over my head. Make this a frequent stop, people, don't make the same mistake I did.

-I've been wasting time talking about soccer all this time, without mentioning the plight of the sex industry in Germany. It turns out that the World Cup has not been the boon to business as was anticipated. I love the fact that this is covered, but no one could ask about g-ddamn WMDs.
