Farley Jackmaster Funk Live on WGCI 12/19/86

Well, in the spirit of the music recently, I figured that I would put up a live DJ set from Chicago house legend Farley Jackmaster Funk, instead of our usual Bob Dylan or Grateful Dead jawn. This is from a radio broadcast from December 19, 1986 on Chicago radio station 102.1 WGCI, a great chance to hear house music taking shape.

I know that a lot of people have a negative image of dance music in their heads, images of dudes in tight shirts and untz-untz music boring a hole in your head and $30 covers and $15 drinks. I hope that you give this a chance and take a listen to how infectious and amazing this music was, how fresh it sounds 20 years later. This should be a nice intro to the week ahead, as we're gonna be uploading tracks from both the past (Trax Records, Marshall Jefferson) and the present (Tiga, MYLO, Daft Punk, Isolee) of dance music. You need to jump in, as this shit is too good to be ignored.

Hi Jack
Thanks for this. I've mostly heard downtempo lounge music (Thievery Corporation, Kruder & Dorfmeister, and the like) but also acts like Lazy Dog and going further back, Primal Scream. Some of the most spooky stuff I've heard was by Future Sound of London. Heard them? Looking forward to the rest of the week.
